rockwool

Hi, is rockwool as used in hydroponics the same material that is used to insulate attics i.e. glass fibre?

Thanks Jan

Probably, but don't take my word for it.

I think so, but the hydroponics stuff comes in convenient sizes for potting etc

Yes, but have you seen the price of it? £2.25 for a 6 in cube. Jan

Then a pair of scissors would seem to be the answer :-)

Yes......and no.

The base material is the same (stonewool like Rockwool or Rocksilk) rather than glass. The density is higher for stonewool.

Hydroponic growing media is usually impregnated with various types of nutrient to aid the growing process, these are absent in the 'vanilla' product available from merchants

Hope this helps

Depends on whether you are using a specialist growing medium, although I imagine that you could use normal product - just never heard of it being done commercially. Very popular on the continent, see
