I decided to replace one damaged splinter guard and another that looked pretty worn down. Does anyone know what is the best solvent to remove the adhesive residue?
On a previous replacement I found Acetone really attacked the gunge but it ended up with loads of sticky gunge everywhere. This time I scraped as much off as possible with a scraper adding white spirit and re-scraping the residue taking a bit more off each time. After 2/3 scrapings the remainder could be removed with Scotchbrite soaked in white spirit. This did the job but was time consuming and I just wondered if anyone has done this before and has a better solution?
