As suggested way way back, I have invested in a VGA switcher! Bit of brain ache from sorting out the various male/female pin issues but both PCs are now accessible at the push of a button.
The desk top wire tangle would impress a nesting Blackbird:-)
I now have to discourage W11 from a determination to save stuff to the cloud:-(
W11 insistence on trying to push Documents/Pictures and Office files gets right up my nose. (I am forced to use it on my work laptop despite the fact I mainly use Linux servers for software development).
I created MyRealPictures, MyRealDocuments folders and use them instead.
You can find all sorts of articles full of ticky boxes. But that's not a way to make progress.
I have an MSA, but never set up OneDrive. I think I was in a poker game, when all of a sudden, I lost my OneDrive on a pair of aces.
My OneDrive "folder" also seemed to get torched, not to be found now. Nothing in the linkage arena seems damaged. I think there might have been a trick to deleting that folder. Maybe I did it with an rmdir, but I don't remember doing it really.
I hope everyone at Microsoft is OK. I wouldn't want to poke an eye out with my shenanigans.
Summary - the best time to dump OneDrive, is before it takes over. - Later ? You'll need the script with the linkage repair in it. Maybe that was the script Big Al dropped one day.

I just like the executable to be gone, too.
It's possible if you remove OneDrive executable, without unlinking the account first, that is what messes up the folders. So what you'd want to find, is a procedure that does these things in the right order, rather than randomly doing the steps and breaking stuff. As some people managed to do. The only reason mine wasn't a disaster, is it hadn't taken over yet :-)

Apparently, if you log into the Microsoft (MSA) account, there is supposed to be "privacy" information, that tells you what assets Microsoft has got. Perhaps check that out, to see what files of yours would be orphaned in the cloud. There can also be encryption recovery keys stored in the cloud account (the control center for the thing in a sense). Unlinking OneDrive would just be part of the feature set, and is not the end of your MSA account.

That's the ambition. I will never need that amount of storage and don't like MS telling me how to give access to others. Seems a built in security issue. The other concern is how long will it remain *free*.
Or mine.

Nothing of any significance so far.
The "unlinking" claims no files are lost, but they may require accessing the files via the web interface to get any back.
