PIR light wire

Because 500 + 500 + 150 Watts is about 5 Amps. As this is about the limit of a 5 Amp cable, without taking into account the diversity of heat and cold, on an outside wall, I was unsure as what to use. I went for over kill.

You could never read his mind :-)

It now looks like a cable that is inside a conduit, or comes out from the wall adjacent to the lights is the permanant way to do this and this is my way for him to pursue.

It now looks like you are right. I went to a company today, that recomended a cable that was armoured and it was almost a big as a finger in diam.

Going back to the stupid question point. I have always found this ng to be the finest that I subscribe to. I salute you all for your brains and advice. I have learned a hell of a lot from you all. I am far from stupid, but other posters have put me right on things that I did not have a 100% grasp on.

I'l try and talk him into this.

Thanks

Dave

It was a didn't know about 30 years ago :-)

I am going to correct this later in the week.

Agreed and that is his way forward until he/his plumber takes up the upstairs floors.

Thanks for you input

There is, it's called Hi-Tuff :-)

And it's not armoured...

A very good idea, as his side neighbours are more than a floor level below his property. 500 Watts will be a major concern for them.

Knowing him, you could well be right :-)

Will do.

There's a lot of anomalies about the law that the police can't do anything about.

Using your mobile phone while driving and get caught.

If you are asked 'why do you think you have been stopped' and you don't say that you thought that it was because you were using your mobile phone whilst driving. You can't be prosecuted unless you have been cautioned before the question is asked. I am lead to believe that even after you have been cautioned, unless you admit to the offence, the evidence is inadmissible in court.

Get stopped, say nowt and I really do mean nowt. You are far safer

If you want to use T&E then you need to find some suitable way of protecting it from UV.

Huh? That is *exactly* what I linked to above. 1.5mm^2 would be more than adequate unless you are talking about a seriously long cable run (i.e over 90m at 5A total load).

There is - hi-tuf, this is not armoured. You are thinking of SWA (Steel Wire Armoured)
