pipes causing a tapping noise

Feb 07, 2006 1 Replies

The pipes in my ceiling are causing a frequent tapping noise. They start tapping every 3 or 4 minutes and the tapping is quite rapid. Not sure what the cause is as it only started about 2 weeks ago. Was hoping it might go away but no joy.

Called a plumber who said it was due to expansion, but it sounds more like some kind of airlock. Any suggestions?

Are you in a semi/terrace? Perhaps the illegal immigrants in next door's loft are trying to escape?
