I have a Philips ARG610 fridge freezer which requires defrosting on a regular basis. This is a single compressor type and it's meant to be defrost free!
Does anyone have a link how these work? Inside the freezer bit there is an additional small coil without fins tracing the same route/pattern and the main cooling matrix. There is also an electric heater at the bottom of the matrix compartment where the power from the heater seems to come from the fridge part.

No such thing. There's frost free, which of course isn't really, but therse still need defrosting from time to time.
How full is it kept and how often do you use it, i.e. how often is the door opened and does it get left open.
It's not used that often. Might be opened twice a day. Certainly never open.
I was wondering how the defrost bit worked. There are two thermal switches. One is in series with the fan but there is another with "261N" marked on it's side. A quick Google implies it is a switch for the heater and is specifically for "freezer evaporators".
I was wondering more than anything if there was a circuit diagram and explanation of how the defrost mechanism works.
