I know you can get pet friendly PIR for use on house alarms, but is there such a thing for use with exterior lighting? We have 2 security lights fitted and everytime it is activated (maybe 10 times between 9 - 11pm) it's the god damn cat (not ours).
I just put a bit of black electrical tape over the bottom of the sensor. Still enough showing to detect big things, but meant the cat could go in and out without the light coming on.
Interesting! Maybe aiming? Because the only thing that seems to fire our two sensor lights, is a human body. And only once, backing up or facing in, our warm just driven some distance pickup truck, to within ten feet or so has that fired the one over the garage door! However the moment one gets out of that vehicle around the vehicle's door and within about the same distance, it will fire. It seems to I like a nice warm friendly human face it does! Even when wearing fairly heavy winter clothing! The two fixtures btw are fairly cheap, twelve to fifteen dollar per complete fixture, two lamp units into which we place two 75 watt semi flood bulbs (bulbs extra). These have two adjustments only; adjustment to strength of evening/daylight and length of time the lamps stay on once triggered. Daughter has a similar couple of sensor fixtures that have three adustments which do include a 'sensitivity' to triggering. All made in China and ostensibly, at least complying with CSA (Canadian Standards Assoc.).
