PAT Testing Equipment

I have from my Father in MINT condition -

1 x Parker Bell 500SP PAT Tester, complete with lead, leather carry case Instructional Video, Instruction handbook & quick Instruction cards Packs of test record sheet, and test stickers.

1 x Parket Bell Quick Earth Finder probe.

1 x Parket Bell 1000 SP Extension lead tester, with instructions

The first item is out of test and would need calibration. I have no use for these, anybody able to advise if there is a 2nd hand market for them ?, and if so what would they be worth. Prefer to sell without getting re-calibration done.

There's a market for electrical test gear on ebay. I don't know what yours would go for (depends how usable / 'vintage' they are) but I imagine you could sell them. Most of that sold is without re-calibration.

I had my PAT tester recallibrated recently for about £30. I'm sure you'd get that back on a sale.

500SP and similar have sold on ebay £30 - £100 depending on condition and included accessories.

I was just trying to work out what might need calibrating on a pat tester. Not sure there is anything that would go wrong in that way. Brian

Probably correct - but there is a calibration sticker on it, and manufacturer has a calibration sticker across the 'instructions' still sealed. "Open when due for calibration" Assume they check earth leakage current and insulation voltage test.

Anything could go out of calibration and it may not be obvious to the user. Regular calibration is about checking that the equipment is still working within its specified limits and not giving false readings.

Not only can component values change with time etc (even modern ones) they can be stressed, damaged etc.

Even a calibrated instrument (ie in date) could give a false (out of spec) reading if it has been dropped, over stressed, etc.

Don't dispute it .... but £75 is a lot of money
