Painting new plaster

How long should you leave new plaster before painting? Is it just based on the colour change, or should you leave it longer than when it all goes the same shade? Our plasterer says we should be able to paint this weekend, which will only be about 10 days after he finished. Some diy web guides say up to 6 weeks.

Get "new plaster" paint, it is more porous.

Is that suitable for a kitchen-diner?

I've always painted it as soon as it is visibly dry (remember 1st coat watery). Never heard of a need to wait longer.

Yes, although other paints are harder wearing.

Personally, I would paint now with Dulux Trade Supermatt. Then in six months, repaint with a more suitable paint, such as Dulux Trade Quick Drying Satin.

Christian.
