OT: Wiring regs question

Hi,

I employed an electrician to do some wiring improvements recently. One of the jobs was the fit a double mains power socket (13A type) in the loft to plug in an inspection lamp and TV aeriel amplifier. I've just looked in detail at the socket and it is wired to the lighting circuit. There is no inline fuse, but it has a sticker saying "5A Max". Does this conform to wiring regs? I can't imagine it does!

I'd say it's ok as the wiring is protected by the MCB and clearly labled.

It's ok to use 13 amp sockets on the lighting circuit for table lamps etc

- although the sensible will use 5 amp etc to avoid confusion. Hoovers and dimmers don't make for a good combination. ;-)
