OT: using shipping containers for storage

A friend needs to store house contents for a while and is thinking of buying a used container and "parking" it in a garden. What do they need to consider: condensation, planning requirements, transport costs ... ?

Planning most certainly and depending on access a crane to hoist into position.

Doesn't somebody do this already? They were called PODS in the US, but I thought that I had seen something similar here. They deliver them with an onboard crane, and take them away, empty or full-to-storage, when requested.

Never asked for this when stored old house contents in it while building new...plenty of planning bods on site from time to time.

The old story of: If you ask, permission will be refused. If you don't ask, no permission needed.

If they object, you just get it shifted.

Indeed hence the 'hypothetical' questioning, anonymously/pseudonymously...

IIRC you need pp after 28 days for temporary structures however field shelters if able to be moved don't
