SMR means no more than 'bog standard reactor built in a factory'

Well yes, submarine and aircraft carrier reactors come into this category. But the term is more normally used by those promoting thorium cycle, molten salt, and other concepts which have not yet gone past the "research" stage.

Not as far as I am aware.

In fact most of them are PWR designs, with a sprinkling of BWR and gas cooled and light water.

Thorium aint in the picture at all.

That's classed in the 'next generation' of designs along with other breeders.
