Oil level sensor

My "Watchman Sonic" oil level sensor is reporting an error, which I assumed was "low battery" since it is (i) several years old & (ii) very cold (hence low battery output) & (iii) it started working again once it warmed up this afto.

But the error being reported (having downloaded the manual from the mfr web site) is "No Echo", not "Low battery".

Or could it be getting confused because of the low battery...? I'll replace them tomorrow & see what happens.

yeah. they do bad things when the battery is low.

The older ones are not worth the cost of a new battery, the newer ones that take a much cheaper battery are only a few notes more than the replacement battery pack for the old

FYI the batteries in the expensive copper tube that they sell you are just Duracell AA's in 15 mm pipe, which you can carefully cut, replace the cells, and rejoin with a 15mm slip compression joiner :)

Yeah, thanks, so I saw, but I think this one has lithium cells in it.

There have been several cases reported of Watchmen going bad, and the manufacturer refusing to do anything if they are out of warranty. Mine was one of them, it died last summer, so was not suffering from excessive cold. It was only four years old. I replaced mine with an Apollo, which unfortunately does not have an alarm option, but is otherwise similar in operation. I hope it lasts longer than the Watchman did. Hopefully, a new battery will fix yours.
