Watchman Sonic weirdness

Feb 08, 2015 4 Replies

Took my Watchman Sonic oil level monitor off to replace the battery and the underside and interior of it are completely covered in a thin, white, soft, powdery coating (looks like talc, except finer). Comes off easily with a soft brush & puff of compressed air.

What in earth could it be?

As a point of interest how do ypu replace the battery? Are you replacing the entire unscrewable copper tube ?

I took that apart some years back and found a couple of standard AA or AAA batteries inside. Much cheaper to replace these batteries than get ripped off buying the 'Replacement' battery as sold by the manufacturer.

The more modern ones have a boggo 3V Lithium cell. Couple of quid at the local hardware shop.

It's all working fine now.

never mind :>)
