nyy-j cable - direct burial?

AEI indicate their BS8436 offering will perform satisfactory, BUT it is necessary to be SURE there is NEGLIGIBLE RISK of mechanical impact. That is actually very hard to do - it implies electrical cable concrete capping.

So SWA remains the gold standard - I prefer E1W glands where fitting quality could allow water to penetrate, thereby protecting the armour from filling up with water or condensate (SWA tail twist crunch test).

I am surprised that there has never been a 1.0mm SWA with lighter armour and micro glands specifically for outside lighting. Too often H05/07RNF gets used, although BS8436 makes an interestingly safer alternative.

So OP has gone with SWA, worth the battle and wrestle on the living floor if necessary :-)
