I'm about to send power to an outbuilding via a buried armoured connection. At the home end I will have an internal metalclad box with double pole RCD and a 20A MCB to protect the outgoing feed. The supply will be spurred off the incomer to the CU. At the outbuilding end I plan to have another metalclad with a DP isolator and a pair of MCB, 1 x 20A for sockets, 1 x 6A for lighting. Most 'garage' CUs come with RCDs but as there will be no discrimination I decided to replace the outbuilding end one with an isolator, protecting the whole installation with the separate RCD in the house. RCD in the house to to protect any inadvertent digger that might damage the buried cable.
