noisy cooker hood fan

Dec 19, 2011 1 Replies

Hi chaps some advice needed, our elica glide cooker hood fans about 3.5 years old has started being slow to start and a bit squeaky. My guess is hardened grease goop on the fan blades

what is the best way to deal with this grease, (apart from your brand new makita angle grinder that is....)

washing up liquid ,flash, super duper engine degreaser?

and can I just lubricate the fan bearings if I can get to them?

or am I going to need to replace the fan itself?

I have always kept the filter clean but it's not a very good lifetime for an expensive kitchen appliance..

ta in advance

dedics

Are you able to remove the blades?

If you are, then a good soak in hot solution of biological washing powder should see them sorted.
