Newbie!!! concrete mix

It's probably been asked a 100 times already, but what mix should I made of agg/sand/cement for footings? I'm building a conservatory with approx. 18 inch footings for the walls. got some 13m to do, and need to work out quantities (let alone costs!). before anyone shouts, yes I do realise it's special (srpc) cement I require. thanks. Peter.

's an on-line calculator there too.

So that's about 3 cubic metres. You really want to mix that by hand? I wouldn't - readymix is far easier.

I've got hold of a petrol cement mixer and four willing victims :-)) thanks for your help. P.

And if access is no good for readymix, I built mine on a metal base, which just requires a few small pad foundations, in my case made from dense concrete blocks.

Definitely the most expensive option, so consider it only if readymix is not practical, or there is a large level change that you don't want to fill with concrete/hardcore or use wooden joists over.

Christian.
