That isnt for the sailing, its for the loading and unloading with most of them.
What is being discussed is whether automated sails can be a useful addition when the wind is suitable. There is in fact one cruise vessel done that way, but it doesn?t get much benefit from the sails very often and clearly not often enough for many to bother adding them.
