20 year old CH run with sludge remover approx 10 months ago. Images show the amount of magnetic material collected by a MagnaClean since. The material is collected in a spiral pattern around the central core.
But how much 'iron' would you expect a 'chemical clean' to have removed?
I mean, if it's likely to dissolve iron then it would also dissolve all iron in the entire system, including iron rads and pumps etc?
So all the MagnaClean has done is take these iron particles out of circulation which may stop them building up elsewhere, like in the heat exchanger etc (could still be a good things of course).
That said, unless they were all picked up on the first pass, could it be that they were just circulating happy in any case?
FWIW, I have a couple of magnetic sump plugs on (mostly) motorbikes and I think there is some talk that they can be bad for an engine (possibly only one already going bad) where the magnetic plug can slowly gather a build-up of magnetic particles but can then let them go in a big clump, potentially blocking oilways etc?
