Maccat 839 chainsaw

When this happened to my Ryobi it turned out to be that a plastic drive gear to the pump was stripped.

Agreed for Ryobi. But not heard of a Maccat. The "pump" is not very fancy. Dismantle and look. BUT it is deep down in guts. On Ryobi you would have to take off Chain cover/adjuster, then chain bar, then brake, then.....set aside some time, but where are you going to get a spare?

Does it have an adjustment screw to change the amount of lubrication?

First thing to check is that wood chippings have not got in the oil tank and bunged up the outlet. Or got into the oil pump. Commonest fault by far.

Dismantle & wash out with petrol

I got a mate of mine to do it because he is good with two strokes, but he found the genuine Ryobi spare easily enough on the web.
