Like a fish out of water

Absolutely OT but I want to find videos of bullets in water and there are so many bloody stupid "almost but not quite DIY breaking shit" TV programmes on You Tube that the signal gets lost.

Anyone know of any decent piccies?

There was a collaboration between two Youtube channels (Smarter Every Day and The Slowmo Guys) where they filmed various firearms under water ...

Didn't mythbusters do some bullets aimed at water tests to show you're fairly safe underneath. Don't remember the extent of footage though and it may not be on youtube

Yes. And the higher velocity the bullets are, the sooner they broke up in the water, so the safer you were.

They spent some time firing various guns from small calibre hand-guns up to a Barrat 50 cal sniper rifle into a swimming pool!

Fascinating. Thank you for the link.

Welcome. The result is very counter-intuitive, so it stuck in my head.

Did they not do this on Mythbusters a while ago? Brian

Thanks to everyone in particular the posters to:

These two channels were the ones I first went to then couldn't relocate bec ause of the bloody stupid Mythbusters ones that kept coming back up. To thi nk there was also a version of that stupid programme made in Britain (with someone who just had to be the most repellent host of any show ever anywher e -probably in any country.)

One more favour please. This is a link to an animation of the Pacific from

1st to 20th October 2013:

Can you see any similarities... no obviously that isn't what I mean. Can yo u tell me how difficult it is to understand what I am trying to say with th e animation.

Yes, I think that that is what I am trying to say... Oh... wait... No... errrmmmm no, yes I mean...
