I have a Bosch GCL-25 cross-line laser, and was under the impression I could buy one of the LR-x receivers to use with it, but none of them say they're compatible with my laser, I think because the detector needs to "see" a pulsed beam.
I presume there's no such thing as a generic laser receiver that works with non-pulsed lasers?

Some of the SF comments and Q&As seem to suggest its about laser frequency and not pulse support as such. With claims the LR6 only supports models from 2017 on.
(I think my level is a GCL 2-50 which it does claim to support and that is a non pulsed line projecting model)
Many of them are aimed at (pun not intended!) people using a rotary spot laser for wide area coverage - quite often they only document working with kit from the same maker, so its hard to get good info. Might be worth sending a question to one of the specialist suppliers of laser or surveying kit.
both the Q&A on SF and amazon were clear as mud, I think the newer receivers support green as well as red, wasn't sure if they have different colours of red though.
I could buy a newer laser and flog the old one on eBay, don't need the full rotating gear, a single horizontal line will cover what I need, or can be spun on a tripod to cover the area in stages, it's not for anything high precision
the alternative is to buy 50m of aquarium tubing and some food dye I suppose :-)
Mine comes with a special reflector that can aid in seeing the line in difficult conditions. Not as snazzy as a detector, but better than the unaided mark 1 eye ball in some cases.
Yes mine has the reflective target, and maybe I could get away with using it at dusk, anyone know if the redglasses are much help?

The GCL2-50 seems to have ditched the left/right spot beams compared to my older GCL-25
or do I want a green one?
Hmm yup the case would be nice compared to the cardboard box mine is in.
Its got horizontal and vertical lines, plus straight up and down spots (they can be all turned on and off mostly independently - although I don't think you can have just one up/down spot).
The tripod mount on the base is a larger than standard size though.
Not sure if it makes much difference. Depends on where you work mostly I guess.
it was £133 before midnight, I probably should have bought it and flogged my old one, but I don't need it in a hurry and I don't like rushed decisions ... if it's going EOL, it'll probably crop up somewhere else cheap again.
As it has the receiver in the kit, I could do without green.
IIRC I paid about £120 for the basic level kit on special offer in SF some while ago (no receiver though)
Yup seems like a better deal.
I did eventually upgrade to a GCL 2-50 laser with LR-6 receiver
And yes, the new one does have a "pulsed on/off" setting (reduces brightness to the eye, but obviously the receiver is sensitive enough at longer distances).
So now I have a 6 y/o, good as new, cross-line laser looking for a home, a couple have gone on eBay recently for £90-£100, offers anyone?
It's been removed from the Bosch UK website, so I assume it's going EOL worldwide.
