Hi all, I was cold called by someone trying to get me interested in spraying foam called "lapolla" onto the underside my roof. I declined. Anyone have any expreience or expert knowledge of this process?

Not that long ago, a building society would refuse a mortgage on a property with that foam insulation. Because roof timbers need to be ventilated, or will rot quickly. And I very much doubt anything has changed since then. Cowboys never really go away. Just wait for memories to fade.

A lot of people would not suggest it is a good move to spray anything on there. I'd never do it because a cold caller suggested it, they probably have a shed load of the stuff from bankrupt stock and are trying to turn a fast buck. Brian
Mother in law inflicted this stuff on her bungalow. Anything to devalue her children's inheritance.

Don't. It makes any subsequent repairt to the roof, to replace a broken tile say, a bodge. The previous owners of this house thought it was a good idea, it was not.

As well as what's already mentioned, it's very very expensive to remove - you essentially need a new roof.
Plus the chemicals are mixed on site, and if they do the mixing wrong you can end up with toxic offgassing. Did I mention that faulty foam is near impossible to remove?

lots on bad foam - it's a big problem in the US where it's more popular.
If you want to install foam, install foam panels like Celotex - easy to remove, and made in a factory where you know it's been done right.
