Kitchen sink recommendations?

The stainless steel sink that was installed when our kitchen was fitted has always been a source of irritation, and now the 1/4 turn tap is dripping with no replaceable parts, it seems a good opportunity to start again.

I thought my requirements were quite simple, but having spent a couple of hours searching I seem to be being frustrated, and thought would tap the knowledge of the great and good of uk.d-i-y.

Main requirements:

1) Needs to cover existing cut out (970mm x 490mm with slightly rounded corners). 2) 1 & 1/2 bowls with 90mm waste on 1/2 bowl (most sinks seem to have 60mm on the 2nd bowl - where as IMHO the main use of a 1/2 bowl is for waste disposal). 3) NOT pre-drilled for taps both sides as I don't want an ugly difficult to clean hole cover. 4) An integral drainer with sufficient ridges to stop the items being dried from sitting in puddles of water (what is it with putting 5 drain channels artistically on a drainer - useless). 5) Not stainless steel - too noisy, difficult to keep limescale off etc. 6) Reasonable appearance, not too "designery" or looking like a '80s idea of modern.

I'm not too fussed about material, but SWMBO wants something that is easy to clean, she's had bad experiences of bumpy resin sinks that attract limescale in the dips like it's going out of fashion, and bleach the colour out at the drop of a hat. Not sure if the likes of the Fragranite silk sheen ones from Franke are like this or much improved.

Her "ideal" would probably be a shiny white ceramic sink that's impervious to staines, can be bleached if needs be, and can be attached with abrasive cleaners without fear.

We found an almost ideal Kohler Quadria

, only to discover (on being delivered) that the 1000 wide dimension was at it's widest point so that out existing cut-out is visible near the corners! Luckily we have a friendly plumbing supply shop who are happy to take it back again.

TIA - Rufus (starting to consider ripping out the work surface and making a new cut-out, then re-tiling).
