My hallway has a step down in the middle of it. The floor is tiled and I'm planning to finish the riser of the step with a piece of wood. I've bought a piece of Meranti from Jewsons for this, which I think will work fine.
What should I finish this with, lacquer, wax ?? The top edge of the step will be trodden on occassionally and obviously I don't want it to be slippery, but I don't want to affect the nice matt look too much.
