Hot melt glue gun problem

I thought back to a similar situation, valve guide above an engine piston, lost its fit and dropped into the combustion chamber, crunch , crunch. Ran a groove around the external part of the repacement valve guide to take a circlip. For this currently, I'm thinking , grind a shallow 0.5mm slot across and near the junction line of the tube. Grind a 1mm slot axially, part in, on the bulk part and swage or peen in the remaining aluminium below the axial slot into the tube slot.

Would it be possible to put a layer of aluminium foil between the two ali parts after the outside one has been heated to expand it, thus restoring the "interference" fit?

I never knew a glue gun could do all that!

Had a job requiring hotmelt glue gun in injector mode so had to repair this tube nozzle. That idea of swaging and heating and freezing failed. Found a radio telescopic aerial, the section of chromed brass 0.15 inch diameter, cut a length longer than the original Ali. Ground a short run of 0.5mm slot in one end, squashed the cut ends together a bit. Introduced the reduced end into the nozzle and when the gun was hot, soft protected , hammered the brass tube well into the nozzle. Survived half-hour of constant use so far.
