Hinges that aid door removal

All of ours have a hinge pin, which can just be lifted out to release the door.

What about

Thanks - but that isn't what I had seen (although it will do the job). On the ones I saw the whole hinge unclipped from the door frame by pressing a clip.

Thanks Geoff. Happy to know I am not imagining things. It was one of those things that struck me as really good - as I always remove doors when I paint them. A mate is going to have about 9 doors replaced - so it is a good opportunity do what will be appreciated in years to come.

I have those. On mine, the 'catch' part is in the door, the 'wing' is part of the hinge and stays in the frame. I don't recognise the logo.

My handles/lock mechanisms however are made by TrioVing and a quick trawl through their 'Produktkatalog' finds the hinge on page 213, item No. 2010-Standard. The door part is on page 217, item No. 2465.

No idea where you'd get them here though, they were in the house when I moved in.

Do you think they are a good idea and well engineered?

I have had them on my doors for 28 years now. I find them really useful, you can take the door off in a minute if you want to move anything through the frame.. more space and no damage to the polish on the door.

But surely the loose pin hinges are just as effective but cheaper.

I think they're a great idea. Had new carpet throughout last summer and took all the doors off to make it easier for the fitters. Would have been a PITA to undo all those screws :o)

Also, I have double-doors between the living room and dining room. If we have a house-full, I sometimes pop the doors off to save them getting in people's way. Probably not something I'd bother doing if I had to get the screwdriver out...

Seem OK. They're not solid brass, but still pretty substantial for interior fitting. House has been up circa 24 years and they're all still fine, no looseness/rattles.

Loose pin for me is the way to go. I've had them for all the interior doors in the house for the passed 25 years. Have suited me, Sir. ;)
