Help-Laptop screen upside down

Yes, he was an early public sector employee, and this was a terrific make work scheme, on a par with digging holes and filling them in again, building windmills, and then demolishing them...but as he said 'its better than staying at home with the strife watching reality TV innit?'

Not only has it been in Windows 10 for a long time - I think from the beginning - you can also look at the notifications thing. Look at bottom right at the speech bubble icon. Click on that and you will usually see a load of squares which manage options. One of them is identified Rotation lock. If locked, your screen will not rotate even if you turn it.

ITYM Jan Tregeagle, or sometimes Giant Tregeagle, condemned to empty the bottomless Dozmary Pool on Bodmin Moor using only a limpet shell with a hole in it. Unfortunately the legend rather fell apart when one summer, the pool completely dried out!

Lots of legends about Dozmary Pool

What's that, another faceplant for the Squeaker Goblin! It looks like it ... the strange thing though is he never seems to learn, coming back to faceplant over and over and over!

<weg> He generally does. He faceplants, it hurts, he goes off to tend his wounds, forgets how much it hurts then comes back and faceplants again!

He used to be ok, now he's no different to any other pointless troll / goblin. ;-(

p.s. The screen orientation thing is something I've helped people with many times, especially those with game playing youth or young keyboard mashing kids. And because it's not obvious what was done to put it in that state, they panic thinking something is 'broken', rather than it being a soft setting.

'Tim, my screen is now sideways and I don't know what happened and I've tried rebooting and ...'

'Ok stop ... Try pressing Contol+Alt and any one of the arrow keys.'

Woah, that's brilliant, thank you so much ... ;-)

But like anything, if you know it's easy and if you don't it can be a really big issue. It's a shame the Squeaker Goblin really doesn't know he doesn't know. ;-(

I've had that on a Windows tablet where it defaulted to the wrong orientation on it's own. I think I had to set it where I wanted and then turn off the auto rotation (or take it out of Tablet mode, can't remember).

Cheers, T i m
