Heat pumps?

How can it end-up more expensive, unless your electricity is

5.0/0.9 = 5.5x the price per kWh of your gas?

After recent changes, mine is 3.8x

And even worse when it is a single pipe system, as was the case with the house that my parents had built in 1956, with a parkray solid fuel stove (behind glass) with a back boiler feeding th hot tank upstairs and two downstairs rads from the same single pipe 28mm copper piping.

Sadly it doesn't include the concept of using gas to both generate power and heat in the home.
