We've downsized, still unpacking after a couple of months.
Today, I wanted to connect the stereo system up. We have a corner unit TV stand thing, but I found that I can't quite fit in both the amplifier and the CD player - they're both venerable 'HiFi separates'. Of course, the CD player is mostly empty space inside.
Our Blu Ray DVD player (which is much smaller) doesn't have audio outputs. One solution is using the TV headphone output into the amplifier, but that's quite a lot of menu fiddling and I think SWMBO's head would explode.
So I was looking for a smaller CD player or a DVD player with audio out when I came across 'HDMI Audio Extractors' available for a few quid. ISTM that one of those would 'tap off' the digital audio from the DVD player (in this case playing audio CDs) and provide a line level analog stereo pair for the amplifier.
Do I have the right end of the stick?
