I'm not sure if that's better or worse than the last skip company we used who managed to turn up when we were out (despite telling us emphatically when they'd be there) and drop the skip in the wrong drive.
Yet another day of predictable incompetence from people who manage to make their bread and butter look like a hobby.

Judging by my local area, there are lots of them about. It is only the ones _not_ on drives that are rare. ;-)

The council here seem to have increased the charges for skip licences + suspension of parking restrictions to the point where the (mostly E European) builders and roofers use load-and-go skips. Doesn't help that they will only issue licences to a short list of approved firms.
I do miss skip diving.
It's all a bit daft. When we had our drive done, it would have been easy to put the skip outside, where my wife's car is normally parked. It would have been dropped in the morning and picked up in the evening, but that involves applying for an paying for a permit. Instead, it had to be dropped on the drive, half filled, then moved onto the other half of the drive and filled.
I can understand where a skip may be there for some time or on a main road, but they should have written in an exemption for short term placement on purely residential streets, subject to not causing an obstruction.
To be fair it was here before 9, so no harm done.
In fact if they could have guaranteed it being here Saturday AM I would have chosen that over Friday PM. But they couldn't. Or rather I didn't trust them to get it right. With good reason as it turns out.
With enough irony to go round, SWMBO managed to chose a skip company that is next door to my offices in Tyseley, Brum. I could have popped in during a tea break.
Perhaps they are in fact doing too many jobs. I've been aware for some time that this tendency for companies to make short term contracts and make their staff re apply for their own jobs has resulted in more and more tasks being added to job descriptions each time, which means, in the end the person ends up not doing any of the tasks correctly since they have no time to check. Poorly implemented systems like logging calls and adding alerts for jobs that have to be done often seem to be left out of the loop, since nobody bothers to get an IT solution to cover these things and the end result is a shambles. My younger daughter took on a job which was the merger of two jobs. After a time she realised that she could do this job properly, so gave in her notice. Management's response was to offer her a higher salary - but she left.
