Guttering

Is anybody interested in my ramblings on Travis Perkins or am I just talking to myself here?!

Anyway - I take back what I wrote above.... went in today for some sheets of plasterboard (1800x900x12.5mm). I usually buy this from Magnet, who last time did it for 2.46 GBP per sheet, incl VAT. Today Magnet were shut for for some reason, so decided to go down to TP to wave the magic card at them. I was charged 5.23 per sheet, which was the 'local rate', and although my card was swiped, apparently no further discount was applicable. Well over double the competitors' price. So as far as I'm concerned, I will continue to restrict my purchases there to occasional specialist stuff I can't get anywhere else!

(One benefit of the card I did discover today, belatedly!, is that 'for now' it confers free delivery; something mormally restricted to credit account holders.)

I am. I've had nothing to contribut but the thread is highlighted. It's very interesting so far.

It's even more interesting now ...

Hmm.

Thanks for sharing,

Mary

Hmm indeed, says him 20+ miles from *any* builders merchant...

Ooooo

Is this a new thing? I've not ordered anything from TP for a couple of years but will need some ply soon. I've always got the odd sheet of stuff from TP as they delivered free. Have I been lucky? Granted everyone of their trucks from the branch goes past my door as we live 500yds from them... :)

Also, in the folkestone branch I found that saying "how much???" in a surprised voice (don't always need to fake that!) would often result in at least 20% off.

Darren

Probably - they say it's 10 quid for non-trade account holders

Tried that with my plasterboard - no effect!
