Going rate for garden fencing

Are these automatic, or do you have to go out when there's a storm brewing and adjust the fence manually to avoid it blowing over?

Maybe, that's the answer: spring loaded fence posts? You could lie in bed during a storm, listening to the fence flapping backwards and forwards. And, if it's long enough, you might get all sorts of interesting waves running up and down it.

On gliders, the point about air brakes is simply to reduce the lift from the wings, not to slow it down. Virtually anything that destroys the airflow over the wing will do the job.

50 years ago but my recollection of the terminology I was taught is that a "spoiler" reduces lift; an "air brake" increases drag. The 2 can of course be combined.

Next door has some of those. They are the same size and section as conventional concrete slotted posts but made of a plastic of some sort.

They are fairly stiff but 1) Not enough to shed any wind load and 2) allow the panels to fall out when they do flex. ;-(

We hope to be replacing them with concrete posts for her this year. ;-)

I said dive brakes.

Not air brakes.

And gliders dont have air brakes anyway. They have spoilers.

Yep spoilers kill lift. Air brakes slow you down - typically deployed to kill speed on or befire landing. Dive brakes stop you over speeding in a high angle dive.
