I use it mostly because it remains slightly flexible and is not too difficult to pick off with tweezers and pliers, and maybe small wirecutters. I find it easier to remove than silicone rubber, though of course it can't be used anywhere that gets hot.

In the melted state it is *extremely* sticky and quite difficult to manipulate, unless it's on a flat surface which can be scraped.

Isopropyl Alcohol will break or significantly weaken the bond between the glue and most things.

Depending on the surface to which its attached try IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) to try an get between the object and the glue.

DIY dent pullers for cars use hot glue to stick the attachments to the car body and the release fluid supplied in kits for removing the hot glue is IPA. The eases removing the glue which still remains as a hard blob.
