We are replacing cables which suffered 50yr temperature degradation (very rigid) due to running over a large chimney. The original design Cg Ca considerations were insufficient (chimney refractory lined at one time, wood fire added).
Replacement cable route & spacing has been improved to reduce Cg Ca corrective factors. Design permits PVC to be used, but LSOH XLPE 90oC is cheap, higher ratings. (FTE1.5 FTE2.5 in LSOH 6242B are =A332/=A342 for Prysmian,
90oC temperature & 30A rating for FTE2.5, CPC is same).XLPE has somewhat lower flexibility compared to PVC. FTE2.5 PVC is 3x (longest) diameter so roughly 30mm.
Q: Is the min bend radius for XLPE-FTE2.5 the same?
This is mainly of concern re sockets, which whilst only
2 FTE (no spurs) is likely to be tough in 25mm boxes. Someone is destined to come along and add spurs.Thanks.
