fridge part

I have a hotpoint two-door fridge freezer and I've broken a small plastic hinge type piece fixed to the lower right hand wall/corner of the freezer. see these two pics:

If you can get it off its a prime candidate for 3D printing if it cant be found online Try a spudger

Yes, those sorts of fridge spares are the sort of thing I assumed would be unavailable for our 14 year old Beko, but Amazon and other places had them. By looking in the paperwork that came with the fridge, I was able to be sure of the apart number.

And without the stupid extra space.

There seem to be a number of indesit-oriented spare parts websites here. You could try putting your freezer model number into one of those as a start and refining from there.

It's out of production and there is no stock. so its 3D printer time.

I can't see anything in it resembling a screw fixing., So I reckon it will spudger off.

The above link also gives the 52 hotpoint models the hinge fits.

It seems to have a one way type clip on the back. A springy circular lug with barbs so its easy to push into a hole but then the springy plastic pushes the barbs outward to grip behind the hole in the panel. If a spudger doesn't work it may be destroy the old one by nibbling away the plastic in the region of the lug.

For this kind of thing I'd be calling Hotpoint spares department directly - they have the parts list, they know what other parts they can cross-reference it to, and they can check stock they have in their warehouses (UK or elsewhere). Often their full catalogue is not online.

Third party suppliers tend not to stock too many obscure parts (the ones that aren't service items that need to be replaced), since there's little demand. If you can't find aftermarket stock you need to ask the manufacturer.

thankyou those links are great. ffs £16 for a plastic hinge... looks like it a pop-out thing but that worries me knowing my luck its bound to split the wall of the fridge or something. had an idea maybe I should blast it with a hairdryer - warm it up might make it easier to prise out.

I didn't know what a spudger is but then I googled it and now I don't have to ask you.

not yet wanted advice here first. I don't have patience with those housewives on the customer services line

update: my g/f but an elastic band around the hinge for me. it holds the flap stud in place and now it works perfectly god I feel stupid.

Errm, this is in the freezer, right? Don't lacky get brittle at those temps?

The one time I called, I talked to a man, who identified the exact part I needed (a freezer drawer seal) and took my order then and there.

Well done that man! I find Google Lens handy for identifying odd parts but it failed me this time. I tried a few search terms but didn’t think to include “drawer” as I thought it was for a hinged flap.
