Fluctuating mains pressure

Sep 22, 2005 2 Replies

Hi, hope you can help me.

When I turn on the hot or cold tap, or the electric shower, the pressure fluctuates in a regular way, high for a few seconds, then low for a few seconds and so on.

I'm not aware of any local problems and we haven't changed anything in the house.

Any suggestions as to what might be causing it? Oh, and please don't tell me it's expensive to fix!!!

Thanks

Mike

Pressure measured how?

I would wonder about some faulty pressure regulating device, perhaps near your stopcock.

Hi Ian

I haven't measured the pressure. I just turned on the tap and it ran fast, then slow, then fast...

I might be a bit naive but I assume that this is due to fluctuating mains pressure.

Strangely, this morning everything seems fine. I'm left scratching my head but I guess I can only wait now to see if it happens again. Perhaps the mains pressure valve is on the way out.
