Flow restrictor for 15mm pipe

Apr 18, 2023 Last reply: 3 years ago 15 Replies

I Have a couple of thermostatic taps where the flow is currently slowed by adjusting the opening position of a service valve.

The result is it's noisy. Flow pressure could be used but I would need 4 of these given taps are in different locations and full pressure on the hot side.

I was wondering if anyone else had any experience with using these.

Hopefully this post is a pleasant change to Mr Kinsey's troll posts.

And yet curiously, you keep feeding the troll.

That's not true. How often does he reply to my corrections to any of his erroneous claims.

Do I really have to post links to all your replies to his blatant trolling?

Tim

You snipped the bit that he never replies to my posts, so I hardly think I encourage him like others here.

I left wondering if you have an DIY related reply? The question raised was a genuine question.

I posted the same query on 28/10/22 and subsequently fitted one of these to the incoming supply to the kitchen tap and it works fine so far

You post is much appreciated. Since I posted the question I have found these but I thought they were expensive for what they were? My next experiment is to find the desired flow-rate.

What were they like in terms of noise?

Of course you encourage him by adding messages to his trolls. Sheesh!

He's killfiled me, so I still don't see how I encourage him. If anything my posts serve stop any continuation of a thread.

Yes.

Nope.

In order to determine the Flow Rate represented as Q, we must define both the volume V and the point in time it is flowing past represented by t, or Q = V/t. Additionally Flow rate and velocity are related by the equation Q = Av where A is the cross-sectional area of flow and v is its average velocity.

Hard to say but a fair bit quieter than throttling the ceramic tap, I have only restricted the supply to the kitchen tap, the feed to the loft cistern and outside tap, washing machine and dishwasher are unrestricted

15mm.

We have a radiator like that at a place we have an office. The people in there call it hissing Sid.

Besides, how much room in reality do some of the inane conversations take up and who is it who forces people to read messages they do not want to read. I guess my view is as valid as anyone elses. I think the posts that annoy me are the multiple ones from counterfeit documents and money sellers and dubious online pharmacies. Brian

Rod Speed, Peeler and their sock puppets fill up this DIY group with a hell of a lot of dross!

Let’s try and keep sight of what this Usenet group was for rather than what it has become.

Tim

solution is to drop pressure over a longer distance, eg with a narrower section of pipe or just more than 1 service valve. Sometimes practical: squash the pipe part way.

dunno what that section means

easy to spot them a mile off and avoid
