flexible flush pipe

Planning to refit the downstairs loo I can lose the old top-access concealed cistern and move the pan back a few inches if I install a front-access cistern tucked into an alcove. The cistern will have to be offset to the side by about 100mm but I see there are universal flexible flush pipes available which will allow me to connect to the pan alright.

Question: do they leak? They seem to need cutting to length and adhesive or sealant applied to the end fitting into the pan. I don't want to be hiding a dodgy, dripping join in an inaccessible location.
