If designed properly the mechanical properties of the joint will resist the working loads - the magnets will just hold the joints together when the loads are reversed - eg. Picking up a chair v sitting on it.

No it isn't! Rare Earth elements help provide our green energy!! It makes us green as grass and helps the planet!! No cost is too great!! Especially if the dirt's in China!! ;-)

The video was carefully edited to show that the parts that needed careful a ttention got the least coverage and so you get no idea of the engineering. What you do get an idea of it the absolute lack of attractive furniture. It is all very reminiscent of the stuff we had before the era of the flat-pac k.

Do you remember the tin cupboards with fold down worktops and sliding doors ? And those tapering legged tables with wingnuts holding on the legs?

That's the style.

"This sculpture was shown in a BBC2 TV show called "School of Saatchi's Bes t of British." I was one of 6 artists that made it to the final, and I was invited to show my work as part of the Saatchi Gallery's exhibit "Don't rai se the bridge, lower the river." Since then, this sculpture has been sold t o the Contemporary Arts Society and is considered an important piece of 21s t century art."

Unfortunately it is unlikely that the next Saachi collection will burn down . And unless it reaches Curie Point X, should there be another act of kindn ess, I very much doubt this piece of skip content will be lost to humanity. Clever idea though.

All vitally important no doubt.

"These magnets are so strong that they will wipe data from hard drives ..."

How?

Not only that, all the thorium you dig up with those rare earths can be used to make proper green power stations that even work in the dark and with no wind ;-)
