Result was not too bad...
I like it.
I have used a strip of something sturdy over the dacron material in the past: The staples go through the strip and then the dacron into the ply. So if they need removing for readjustment, pulling the strip will pull the staples instead of having to pry them out individually. And if the strip tears, the staple will be left a little proud and much easier to remove than if sunk into the wood.
Also did that, using cardboard, when fixing insect screen to a wooden frame that was screwed in place - the cardboard wasn't visible. Came in useful when a bird pecked holes in the screen in attacking his own reflection in the glass behind.
