faintly red colour cast today

On Mon, 16 Oct 2017 11:53:31 +0100, Bill Wright coalesced the vapors of human experience into a viable and meaningful comprehension...

I remarked to my wife that the dashboard displays in my car looked pinker than normal.

Half an hour earlier we both independently remarked that the daylight light level for the time of day was reminiscent of our trip to Truro before totality of the solar eclipse of 1999.

I didn't notice the daylight colour temperature getting any colder, but it is well known that human vision has auto white balance with no defeat switch.

In a bizarre twist is has suddenly cleared to sunshine although the air pressure is falling quite rapidly now and wind getting stronger. The air temperature outside is now 3C warmer than inside the house and rising!

I suspect anything loose and not tied down will be flying tonight.

They were predicting bad from this evenings rush hour. The blue sky is a milky blue and the sun a weird sort of orange colour characteristic of sunset but still quite high so there must be a lot of fine dust.

Nah it's a conspiracy, I blame BREXIT.

Yes. God has sent the hurricane - but only to those parts of the Isles IN the EU, or who voted to stay in.

Dark orange clouds at 3pm in Epsom. I had to switch on the lights.

I went to France for the eclipse, and actually got to see it. It differs from sunrise/sunset in that it gets darker with no change in colour - unlike sunrise/sunset, where it is redder.

Cornwall is too small to matter

I remember a shortage of memory chips some time ago after a Japanese earthquake.

I hope we're not facing the same sort of thing involving a clotted cream deficit.

Thanks for your concern. Damage limited to the garage door being pushed in a bit by the force of the wind and dead branches have dropped out of trees. No power cuts or trees across the local roads and the number of leaves on the trees roughly halved overnight. Lots of windfall apples!

A really bad storm and our village is invariably cut off without power and requiring land rover across the fields and a chain saw to get out.

Air pressure is rising now almost as quickly as it fell yesterday.

Pretty wild overnight but not that unusual for this neck of the woods.

Still quite violently gusty this morning with fast moving low clouds in gaps of clear sky. Thin waning crescent moon looking down with a smile.
