Exterior paint for wood - Longest lasting

I need to paint some exterior wood around windows and door frames. Some of the old paid can be stripped back to bare wood. What paint will last the longest? In the past I have use Dulux Weathershield which, when I did it, had a primer, undercoat and top coat. Now that does not appear to be the case. It looks like you have to use two coats of the primer, the second coat applied before the first coat has fully dried. Are there any other brands I should consider that would be better?

IME most exterior paints are pretty poor compared to what we used to have.

Probaly the best possible would be two pack epoxy based yacht paint!

If you manage to enirely enclose the wood in it so as to not get any swelling, its essentially putting the wood in a plastic bag

A lot of the problem is the wood. If it expands and contracts a lot, a paint with good elasticity, might be good, but I notice that my front window sills were done with a gloss in the way you describe anted they are cracking in line with the wood grain, and all coats are detaching down to the wood.
