Anyone who is willing to spend £700 on a AQ HDMI cable will pay £1000 for a hand finished DIY branded one.

And then there is up-sell. To smooth of the very last bit of any rough edges on the digital signal re-package some WD40 into 1ml bottles and sell it as a "wonder connector enhancer"

How about wet string and then we can sell re-wetting solution to keep it at optimum performance (i.e. profit). Wet string should be fine for short distances.
