E10 fuel

I can also remember when diesel fuel was about half the cost of petrol. I think it was in the 1980s when cars other than Mercedes taxis started to offer a diesel engine as an alternative to various petrol engines. Now diesel is slightly more than petrol. Not enough to outweigh the significantly better fuel economy of diesel. But I predict that in a few years diesels will be so reviled that they cost more to run than petrols. Shame, because the various diesel Peugeots I've owned have been much nicer to drive than the earlier petrol VWs and Renaults that I had.

I earned £4/9s/0d a week - after tax and NI - as a 15 yr old apprentice in 1966/67. The gross was about £5 - and apprentices were not well-paid. OK, it was a few years later, but we didn't have much inflation or price changes in those days.
