Drilling through wall of a fuse cupboard

Standard fuse cupboard... o Supply in + their fuse + meter + large CU o All sits on a large wooden board & spacers off brick

Location... o Cupboard sits on a probably single-brick wall o Other side of it is a living room, chimney nearby o Chimney goes "over" the area & up before the fusebox o Can only be single brick as I've measured it

Q: Can I just hammer drill through the wall to the living room?

There are no cables in the wall etc. There is a chrome gas fire pipe the other side, but I will be entering below it and exiting below it on the other side :-)

My concern is simply re vibration - surely it must be ok?

I've done it several times over the years, with no evident problems - up to about 12mm. If you were pounding a 30mm SDS+ bit, then there might be more difficulty.... :o)

Noted, it's just 2.5-T&E with a sleeve, so fine. . "Air cooled motor, who are they kidding, it is merely a device to distribute a thin layer of brick dust over every horizontal surface within 2 miles".

My mallet would break...oh you use a drill? :-)

Yup thats normal.

Fair enough.

Yup .

What must be ok? and vibration from what? also what is it you're trying to do?

p.s you're keys are in need of a clean, the 'o' seems to be stuck.

"you are keys are in need..." ?

That doesn't make sense. Ah, yes, I see: you mean "your keys...".

Perhaps when you find someone to fix your broken shift key, you should get them to install a rudimentary spelling and grammar checker for you. It's only courtesy to post in the same language as the majority of the group. Then, and only then, your rather feeble attempts to comment on the style of other posters might be taken a little more seriously.

Vibration from using a hammer drill to create a hole through brickwork in the fuse cupboard to the other side.

Vibration must not upset the meter which is mounted on a wooden board on same brickwork within the cupboard.

The hole will pass 2.5-T&E to the other side.

My concern is simply re vibration - surely it must be ok. I assume so.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold. I remember "Albert Ross" saying something like:

Cant see this post for some reason? is he having a dig at me? not that I give a fig like. I would like to know if the woodwork has just creaked though.

Actually the vibration is so bad for the brick it tends to disintegrate :) Expect dust and lumps to come off during operation.
