DPC regulations (and unfortunate neighbour quibbles)

Evening.Our neighbour's garage wall (that is attached to his house) borders onmy property. The level of the ground on my property is two brickcourses above the DPC on our neighbour's garage wall. It's been thatway since we bought our home two years ago. I've recently had a blockpaved driveway installed at the same level but where the drivewayborders our neighbours garage wall a deep trough has been dug - thebottom of which has been dug below the DPC - and then filled withpebbles to act as a soak away. I am confident that this is correct andthat in fact this is now even a better solution than the earth that waspreviously resting against our neighbour's garage wall beforehand. Myneighbour has six months after completion of the driveway startedquestioning the validity of the trough despite my ensuring he wasinvolved in the decision and approved of the solution that the companyinstalling the driveway offered at the time.Any comments? Ideally, can anyone point me in the right direction forregulations regarding DPC that can help me understand if the abovedefinately is correct or not?Thanks

Dundonald ,

Basically in a garage it's there to stop 'rising damp' causing a problem - but unless the garage is constructed using a cavity wall construction and a DPM under the concrete floor thats properly connected to the dpc - then it's next to pointless inserting the aforesaid dpc.

For the garden wall, then there is simply no reason for one, it gets wet both sides anyway during a storm.
