I use them for domain registration and email forwarding.

Plus another - I recently signed up and transferred one domain in. So far so good.

Be aware that basic domain hosting doesn't give you any kind of email forwarding - that's an additional service that a particular host may or may not offer, perhaps for an additional fee. I think at Mythic it's in the territory of £10+vat/year - I'm not sure if you can share that between several domains.

For just basic domain hostings where I set up DNS to point to servers elsewhere, I also use Namecheap. US-based so I use it for .com/.org/etc rather than .uk (although they probably do that too)

Do you mean per year? £10 a month for redirection sounds very expensive.

My current provider was very good, then it was taken over by another company and then things seem to go on a downhill slide as well as their charges escalating.

In my life I've seen a number of very well run companies which have been acquired by another outfit which sees them as cash cows whose customers are to be milked!

It even happened to a company I worked for. Had a good reputation and was an excellent working environment.

Subsequently I've never met anyone who, as an employee, had a good word for the company under the new owners.

In what way?

Cadburys? HP?

e.g. Moving to a platform platform, without giving notice and without copying the forwarding rules from the old platform, then the new system has a limited number of forwarding rules when the old one didn't.

They don't seem to keep very good records, e.g. each year they still send me email saying "One or more of your domains will auto-renew soon", except the domain in question now belongs to you!

I wasn't think of either of those.

But HP is an excellent example of the decline of what was the world's dominant test equipment manufacturer. After separating from the computer business it became Agilent who decided they only wanted the Biomedical business then the test equipment was spun off into Keysight and look at it now. Does anyone buy Keysight equipment?

Actually I've been past the house and garage where HP started in Palo Alto!

People do, yes. Whenever I've got test gear quotes it's been Keysight v Lecroy.

(if you're at the cheap end there's plenty of Chinesium floating around, but in the >$10k range Keysight are a big player)

The most recent dysfunctional mess with HP is the split between HP (printers, laptops) and HP Enterprise (servers).
