Dishwasher not pumping water around

Can anyone help? =

My dishwasher sounds fine, fills with water, water heats up, timer seems to work as it= should but the water will only pump with nothing more than the force of a garden hose. N= ot enough to turn the lower arm and not enough to even go part way up the pipe for the top a= rm. =

I have cleaned everything that I can get to. Removed the part that has the arms attache= d to it, can't see anything stuck down the hole, checked for kinks in outlet pipe, but t= here's nothing wrong with that as it fills and drains fine. Just doesn't want to get up= steam to pump the water around. =

I was told a new pump (if that's what is wrong)was going to cost =C2=A3180 then there wo= uld be call out and then fitting charges. I can see at least =C2=A3250 to =C2=A3300 in r= epairs. I can get a new one for just over =C2=A3200 but if it's something easy I could fi= x myself, I would rather do that as this is the first lot of trouble I have had with it.

I've bought washing machine pumps in the past for a fraction of that cost - are they that more expensive ?

The washing machine pump has substantially less pressure output. I have no idea of the cost.

Hi,

If you have a garden hose it might be worth trying to back flush the pump by sticking it in the hole for the rotary arm.

A couple of very hot washes with dishwasher cleaner before doing the above may help to soften or remove anything blocking the pump.

Also try asking on the forum at:

Thanks.

I have tried v hot water and plenty of dishwsher fluid and let it soak for half hour then ran a full wash a couple of times, but it doesn't seem to have done anything. I will give the garden hose a go to see if that helps.

Unlikely to help you but, years ago, my neighbour called out a service man just before Christmas, *needs a new pump, love*. Family expected and not short of money, she replaced the machine.

Bored with the festivities I had a look inside and discovered one of those clear plastic measuring spoons for medicine blocking the intake to the pump:-)

I am bored with easter eggs :-) so think I will unplug it and strip it down in search of plastic spoons or the likes of. The most that can go wrong is I won't be able to put it back together or it will leak worse than the baby! or it might just go BANG!

House is insured along with hubby........guess who's plugging it back in if I find anything? ;-)

Will have a bash over the next week or so and let you know if it's a trip to the tip with it.
